    If you're looking for Prince Charming, look no further.

     
    Adam and the Ants came along around 81/82 and had been widely talked about on the radio as an underground punk/new wave act who were about to make it into the big time. I think it was quite a surprise when they actually appeared on TV as everyone was expecting something like the Sex Pistols! However, for a couple of years they were right at the top of our charts. This song Prince Charming was very popular and I can remember walking down a corridor at the school I was doing some supply teaching at and seeing about 20 kids doing the Prince Charming dance. It was so funny, I suppose we should have told them to stand quietly but we simply joined in and I think the kids probably enjoyed that day more than most at school. Sadly Adam Ant has not had the best of times in recent years, hopefully things have sorted themselves out now. The music was great fun back then and produced some brilliant bands and songs. 
    (And yes, that's Diana Dors in the video too!)

    Just vaguely remember this--wasn't a big fan of them. They look pretty tame compared to some of the stuff today...

    Now here is another one I have never heard of. There was an Atom Ant cartoon here in the US when my children were small.

    I sent a request up to Radio 1 for the children in my class at that time and quite by luck Adam Ant read it out! For a few days the kids treated me like a god, thinking I was a friend of Adam's! it didn't last though...
    Heavy metal, Summer? You don't need cotton wool, you should be deaf by now!

    They really did bring some fun into music back then didn't they? The ex hubby loves them and is still a member of their fan group, I managed to get a Birthday card from the whole group sent to him one year because I knew one of their cleaners!

    Oh yes I remember prince charming! my eldest was 5 at the time at all he kept doing was this song!! he loved adam and the ants.. now its heavy metal in my ears...argh..lol can I borrow your cotton wool..lol
